On Sunday, DVFC U13 White recorded an impressive league victory even when taking into account low opposition team numbers.
The result saw some impressive performances across the team. Alejandro captained the side for the first time this season and showed brilliant leadership skills by leading his team to victory and keeping a clean sheet. Alejandro is a new signing and his confidence has improved greatly as the season has progressed.
A special mention should also be given to Jayden, who played his first match since returning from a torn groin injury. His return was made even more special when he scored a fantastic hat-trick. One of his goals came from pressing intensely, this was something managers Mike and Aniss had been helping the team work on in training so it was amazing to see that work pay off.
The coaches leading them to success
Mike is a coach for the U13 White and U15 Orange teams. He was looking for a team to coach so he could complete his UEFA C badge. He reached out to DVFC and joined last January. Mike said “I have been happy for over a year here. I look forward to coaching my U13s and U15s on a Sunday".
Aniss was first drawn to the idea of coaching 2 or 3 years before starting at DVFC. Aniss was approached by Mike about the opportunity of starting coaching at DVFC and thought it would not only be a great opportunity to develop as a coach but also improve younger kids as players and adults. Aniss said “From session one, I understood the positive and supportive environment the club has and I’ve enjoyed coaching this U13 team and watching them grow together”.
Mike and Aniss have done a great job so far, and we wish them and the U13 White team the best for the remainder of this season and beyond.
